Life at Emali

Programs and Activities

Emali takes early learning to a new standard, providing a number of fully inclusive extra-curricular programs run exclusively and frequently within our centres.

Creating strong foundations for life

Children experience the most growth and development in their earliest years. Fostering their interests, confidence and skills by offering a diverse schedule of extra-curricular learning programs ensures Emali children continue reaching key developmental milestones as they prepare for life at school and beyond.

Emali’s extra-curricular programs are scheduled regularly across all centres, supporting and building children’s gross and fine motor skills, confidence, ability to self-regulate, social skills, mental and physical wellbeing, understanding and appreciation of the world around them plus many more important life-skills.

Innovating early learning

Guided by our core values and philosophy, Emali believes that children should feel empowered and have the opportunity to learn through new experiences. In a busy world, bringing experiences to the children during their time at Emali not only creates convenience and value for families, but allows all children to have a go.

With our team of qualified and trained Early Childhood Teachers and Educators, extra-curricular programs and activities are based on theory and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), designed to suit the unique developmental requirements of each individual child and for all ages, creating enriching, inclusive and nurturing experiences.

Each Emali Early Learning Centre is designed with consideration to the local community. For example, Emali Littlehampton integrates elements of the local farming families within the Adelaide Hills, seeing an on-site barn and resident farm animals shape learning experiences. Emali Brighton infuses the local beach into programming, seeing the children use and embrace their surrounding environment within their growth and development.

Why Emali provides extra-curricular programs

Emali’s extra-curricular programs offering more to South Australian families (the most popular programs being Music & Movement and Sports & Activity).

A regular extension of the learning curriculum

Families are increasingly busy and having these extra-curricular programs as a regular extension of the learning curriculum offers children the opportunity to have a go at all things (rather than parents being unable to sign up to everything due to time or financial constraints).

Inclusivity

Emali doesn’t want children to miss out on opportunities to learn, so including these extra-curricular programs as a fully included extra to enrolment ensures they have that opportunity. Builds inclusivity.

Fundamental to development

The learning that children experience through participation in these extra-curricular programs is fundamental to their development. They build fine and gross motor skills, a sense of self awareness, language & communication skills (by listening to and singing along with music/songs), sensory development, spatial awareness and more.

Builds language and communication skills

All of these early learning experiences support the cognitive and physical development in the child’s most important years, when they have the most growth and learning – this sets them up with strong foundations to be able to continue to learn as best as possible throughout the rest of their lives (e.g. listening or singing along with songs builds language and communication skills – this will be very helpful as the child goes to school, learns how to read and write and to speak with peers building relationships and more).

Play based learning:

Our Early Childhood Teachers and Educators aim to maximise opportunities for learning, there is learning in every moment for children. Never underestimate the value of play!

Play is healthy and it helps children grow. It reduces stress and helps children evolve emotionally as it is a joyful experience for them.

Through play, children learn and develop:

Cognitive and problem solving skills

Like choosing blocks to build a tower as tall as they can without it falling down.

Language skills

Like learning the words to their favourite song or using various words for different play scenarios

Literacy skills

From early stages of recognising and identifying symbols to writing the letters in their name or reading a book together.

Physical abilities and spatial awareness

Like using scissors to cut out and glue a picture to paper, or balancing on a log.

Risk taking skills

How to safely assess a situation or activity and whether it will have rewards or challenges.

Social & negotiation skills

Like role-playing together and pretending to work at a shop or playing a game like charades.

Emotional skills

Like waiting for a turn while participating in a game, reading stories or completing puzzles relating to feelings.

Our happy families

Hear from our wonderful families.

“Emali is a parent and child-friendly centre with well-maintained facilities and a welcoming atmosphere. The educators are knowledgeable, caring, and take the time to connect with each child individually. I especially appreciate the timely updates through the app, which help us stay informed and reassured throughout the day. My 1-year-old daughter is really enjoying her time there, and we’re grateful for the wonderful care she receives. Thank you, Emali!”

We have been sending both of our girls to Emali since they were just 8 months old, and we couldn't be happier with the care they receive. All of the educators here are truly exceptional. They know our girls so well and always go above and beyond to make sure they are happy and thriving. Also, the food provided is top-notch, and the timings are perfect for the kids. We trust them completely with our girls' care, and it gives us peace of mind knowing they are in such good hands. I highly recommend Emali to any parents looking for a nurturing and supportive environment for their little ones.

My child has been attending Emali Salisbury for 2 years now. During this time they have grown in to a confident, happy and well rounded little person. The team at Emali genuinely care about each child as an individual and it really feels like an extension of our family. The excitement my child shows when we arrive for the day makes me so happy and allows me to feel confident leaving them in their care. I highly recommend this centre for anyone looking for care for their little family members.
